Beware - extra charges on arrival
6.0Good location, rooms a bit small but comfortable and clean. The most disapponting aspect of the stay was the additional 'charges' we were told we had to pay when we arrived, whcih were not optional. I did not expect to be asked to pay a 'hotel service charge' for each night of the stay which was just under £10 a night. This was on top of any service charges at the bar. I asked what this was for and was told it was 'service whilst in the hotel'. I have never heard of this before and I would expect this to be included in the hotel price. We didn't have breakfast or use any additional services so it felt like an unnecessary add on and a bit cheeky. The receptionist then went on to say that this was an 'expensive area' so that is why there was this add on. This surprised me as people with money are already spending a lot - so why be asked to pay this? We bumped into a couple coming out the bar who were upset at their bar bill - x2 rum and cokes and the cost was £57 and said they didn't recommend going there as it felt such a rip off. This has put me off returning to this hotel to be honest - despite it being in a lovely location.
