We will definitely return.
10.0The renovation is really stunning. We were most disappointed that the cat had retired!
Don't go to The Algonquin Hotel Times Square, Autograph Collection
2.0The Roku was not working in my original room. They gave me a $50 food/drink credit. They switched my room. They say it's the same size but it is less space The employee at the desk said the rooms were are shaped directly. She could not confirm the rooms sizes were the same. I was given a smaller closet. The origin bathroom has a showerhead attachment. The new room didn't. She said she couldn't switch my room again bc she couldn't confirm if the room had a showerhead or the same size room. Customer service offered 2000 points and nothing else. I reserved this room for the World Cup. I arrived yesterday. I spent the entire evening put on hold for customer service. I had to cancel all my plans last night. The World Cup is once every 4 years. Who knows the next time it will be in the US. I spent a lot of money on this. Because of this I had to cancel all my reservations so ans lost my deposits. The only thing that offered me was points or food credits
hotel with a history, room was really designed, small lovely details, our room could be bigger
10.0hotel with a history, room was really designed, small lovely details, very comfortable bed and bedsheets
− room was a little bit small, with really dirty window, no view, lady at the reception could be nicer too

7.0− Doormen were extremely polite and welcoming in comparison with the staff at the front desk… could benefit from a bit more cheerfulness.
Fails the basics
2.0This stay was genuinely one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve had, because I barely slept. I had to cancel the meeting I came to the city for and leave early. That is unacceptable. The HVAC system was unbelievably loud, and even in the off position kept running. Even after it reached the set temperature and stopped actively cooling, the unit itself continued making enough noise that it was impossible to sleep. I tried earplugs, pillows over my head, and even playing sleep meditations, and none of it was enough to mask the sound. I slept about two hours out of an eight-hour night. A colleague staying on another floor requested a room change around 11:00 p.m. hoping it was an isolated issue, but the replacement room he ended up in was no better. He also barely slept, so this doesn’t appear to have been a one-off problem. Beyond the noise, the sheets were surprisingly rough and uncomfortable, there were no slippers in the room, the lighting was so harsh it felt like an operating room, and there was a dog across the hall that barked whenever anyone walked by, adding even more disruption. To make matters worse, the front desk couldn’t even be reached by phone, making it difficult to get help when there was an issue. A hotel’s primary responsibility is to provide a comfortable place to sleep, and unfortunately this stay failed on that most basic expectation. I won’t be staying here again.
Very pleasant stay. No complaints.
8.0Good location, very nice staff, very comfortable.
− I know the rooms are small but it would be nice to have a small fridge at least.
