Awful treatment and beware of their MINIMUM spend rules
2.0Been going here for over 30 years for drinks, food and parties and this time was awful. We were told to go to the Rivoli bar downstairs and sat down and ordered drinks after around 10 mins. I told them I was was in a hurry as we were leaving for a show and my daughter had her 21st so I brought her down for a drink before we headed off. After another 10 mins a guy came back and told us that we must spend £150.00 between 3 of us otherwise he cannot serve us. I said please bring the drinks which came to around £50 and we can take our pics and leave and he said NO I said really do you what me to leave and he said if you don’t spend £150.00 yes you will have to leave, I said but why wasn’t I told this before you sat down and he said we don’t tell anyone as they find it offensive so I said you don’t think it’s offensive asking us to leave when we have been sitting there for over 15 mins waiting. I spoke to a manager on my way out and how disappointing it was to be treated like this and it was a very special occasion for my daughter and she was so upset when we left. Since then I received an email to say we are sorry and nothing else. Poor show for the RITZ you obviously don’t like normal customers and you should tell us that we are not welcome. Take some customer service lessons from the SAVOY & PENINSULA who welcomed us with open arms for the next few days and made us feel special.
A wonderful experience
10.0We had afternoon tea and the experience was wonderful from start to finish. Despite the hotel undergoing renovation, you would never know, We were made to feel special from the start We were not able to be in the famous palm court but the area we were in was comfortable and luxurious The atmosphere was perfect made even more special by the pianist Ian playing a wonderful selection of music to enhance the quiet calm ambiance The food and service was top quality as you would expect from this hotel All in all the Ritz did not disappoint and made our special birthday celebration perfect Thank you!
Secret Garden minimum spend needs reviewing!
2.0We were pleasantly surprised to discover the new secret garden was open, but even more surprised with the £75 per person minimum spend ! Despite spending over the minimum spend service was slow, no recognition was given for two birthdays being celebrated. Very disappointed as it’s a beautiful space with lovely live music and atmosphere the rest is just a let down …
Great food, amazing service, mices and an unspeakable manager
2.0Dinner at the Secret Garden Food and service was amazing Shame about 3 mice which kept us company during the dinner and an arrogant manager who asked which “section” of the Health and Safety UK law of 1974 I was referring to when I complained about the presence of mice having a nice stroll within the venue
A wonderful lunch at the Secret Garden with fabulous service.
10.0We visited the Secret Garden for the first time today and had the most wonderful time. The setting is just beautiful. We enjoyed champagne, the Mezze Platter which was delicious and plentiful, followed by the crab brioches, also lovely. We loved the music playing, but the icing on the cake was our waitress Vera. She really was fantastic and it was such a pleasure chatting to her. She remembered that we mentioned in passing when we sat down that we were there or a late birthday celebration and at the end of our meal brought my friend a little birthday cake which again was delicious. It really made my friends day. I am already booked again for August and can't wait to return.
Not what I was expecting
4.0Room good size and well decorated although missing simple things
− Going through extensive renovations. No real lobby to relax. Lift doesn’t work I got stuck in there. Staff didn’t care. Not the hospitality expected for the ritz. They are changing high prices and not delivering quality product. Should shut down for renovation. None of the orginal restaurants or bars are open. Everything is squashed into a small footprint. Entering the hotel is chaotic with delivery vans out the front. Not 5 star. Hotel manager doesn’t care. They should be upfront about the state of the hotel instead of not telling guests
