Great location and value.
10.0Just spent two nights at the Gainsborough Hotel, and booked our next London stay before we left with the helpful Sakura on reception. We booked this trip through Secret Escapes but I think it’s worth booking direct with the hotel. This hotel is very good value for London and not grand but does not compromise on comfort. Given the heat in London at the moment I will firstly say the air conditioning was excellent. Bottled water was also provided. The bed was comfortable, the room clean and well equipped, with a proper wardrobe and drawers, not a rail. The bathroom was small but the shower excellent, as were the toiletries. There were two hand towels provided, which meant I had a hair towel, a simple touch that makes life easier, that is often skimped on. The sister hotel over the road has a bar and serves breakfast, and gave us a small jug of fresh milk for tea when we asked. The location is excellent. The South Kensington museums are practically on the doorstep, South Kensington station is a few minutes walk away, making access to the west end and south bank very quick and easy. Our next stay is booked and we are looking forward to returning. Thank you Sakura for your help today.
Great value and location
10.0Very well positioned hotel for South Kensington tube and the museums. Lovely room with good aircon / tea making facilities and clean bathroom. Reception was very friendly and held our suitcase. Lovely full breakfast at the the exhibitionist hotel opposite. Very good value for money - highly recommend and would stay again.
Excellent location & very professional staff .
8.0Returned again to the Gainsborough Hotel and again very happy with our visit . Very helpful professional staff . Sparkling clean rooms and the location is excellent. Just a few minutes walk to the Natural History Museum ,V&A Gallery ,South Kensington Tube Station and many more attractions . Really good food options in the neighbourhood . Look forward to returning . The hotel very clearly informs visitors that the elevator is not working . Thanks to all for memorable stay .
Simply Sensational.
10.0My wife and I booked this incredible hotel through Secret Escapes. Perfectly located. A short walk from the tube and museums. 15 minute walk to Royal Albert Hall and the Royal Parks. The same to Harrods, if you need a retail fix. The sister hotel just across the road, 'The Exhibitionist', is great for top quality breakfasts during your stay. Continental, but with sausages, bacon and scrambled eggs. All good quality, and as much as you need to set yourself up for the day. We've never seen such friendly, helpful and happy staff. The rooms are kept spotless, and cleaned every day. You're made aware that the lift is out of order at the moment on their website. So there are a few stairs to climb to get to your air conditioned room. There is always help available to get your cases up and down the Victorian staircase. However, 'The Exhibitionist' across the road does have a lift, just in case you may have mobility issues. Restaurants, bars, pubs, there's even a Tesco's a few minutes walk from the end of the road. Everything you need for your London break is literally at your fingertips. No matter how hard you look, it'll be impossible to find fault. OK...no lift, but a bit of exercise will help to digest the big breakfasts. Next time we get the 'London Bug' to see a show or whatever, we'll be back. Check out both of these two, very posh, very nice, once Victorian townhouses before you check out anywhere else.
Cool budget room
10.0We came up to see " les mis" at the Albert Hall, this hotel is 20 min walk away and only 10 from the natural history and science museums. 2 minutes from local shops, restaurants and pubs. We had a budget room in the basement it was spacious with a good size shower room and toilet. The aircon was very effective and quiet ( left on all night ) the room is quiet and the bed comfy . As with all my reviews I'm balancing my score with what we paid ,
Extremely good value
10.0I was very impressed with my short stay here. I asked for a quiet room, and got one. The staff were all really lovely. The room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the shower very good. And arriving into London in a heatwave, I was very pleased that the A/C was excellent! Bottled water and biscuits were also provided, and the location in South Kensington is brilliant. Overall, I felt that for the price, this hotel offered exceptional value for money. (The only downside is the lack of a lift - this did not affect me, but might not be ideal for some people). I would definitely stay here again, thank you for a great stay.
