Great location, views & service!00
10.0Excellent stay again (June 2025) with highly professional staff at reception (Gjergi - spelling?, Stefano & Alessio), & at breakfast (Vanessa). Everyone we were in contact with were friendly & extremely helpful to our needs. We hope to see you again in 2027!
Classic beautiful charming hotel on the waterfront near St Mark’s Basilica and square.
10.0We loved this quiet charming vintage Venisian hotel near St Mark’s Basilica. We were warmly greeted by Hannad who made restaurant recommendations and reservations for us as well as recommending local sights. The bed was firm , wonderful pillows. Wonderful views from the restaurant above, except the breakfast was very pricey. Walking distance to the shops and restaurants and square nearby.
Beautiful views, room, food
10.0Our room and the views of the Grande Canal were just beautiful. I didn’t want to feel like I was staying in a generic modern hotel so I was very happy to find the old world elegance at Locanda Vivaldi. The staff were helpful in suggesting a great restaurant, but after we stumbled through setting up our gondola ride we realized we could have used better guidance when we asked. They were all very helpful with our luggage, made us feel welcome and even gave us a complimentary bottle of prosecco. Breakfast had everything we could have wanted and was delicious, with more great canal views from the breakfast area. If you want to be close to St Marks Square and “the action” you will like the location. Also, when our plans changed, it was easy to pop back into our hotel. There is some noise from the vaporetto stop but then it is so convenient to be by a vaporetto stop! It’s like getting used to any “city noise” so I don’t consider it an issue for me. Would stay here again for sure!
Great short break in Venice .
10.0Small very friendly hotel overlooking the grand canal . We were upgraded to a suite . The rooms were traditionally decorated. We enjoyed a good breakfast in the terrace on the third floor overlooking the water . The hotel was centrally located for easy access to St. Mark’s square . Thank you to all staff for your advice and help , particularly Jordi.
Many great strengths, one great weakness.
8.0With a fantastic terrace that overlooks the lagoon, an elevator and its proximity to both the vaporetto and the alilaguna, this hotel can make for an excellent choice for people that don't want to lug bags up and down the stairs of Venice. But it's not for light sleepers. The construction is such that some of the first floor rooms (second floor for Americans) are at the same height as the bridge over the nearby canal, meaning that foot traffic passes pretty much right by your window. That traffic is heavy, consistent and goes until the small hours of the morning (and we were there in the relatively light season of November). We loved the terrace and it's a reasonably priced hotel. Service also was excellent. But be prepared for the noise.
Mosquitos At Night
4.0While the hotel was beautiful, and the staff was pleasant… The air conditioning was turned off in the hotel. The rooms were stuffy so the only way to get air moving around at night was to open the windows. After the first night, we woke up with mosquito bites. 😵💫 The hotel staff explained there was no way to regulate the air-conditioning on a room by room basis… and a decision was made to turn it off because of the cool evenings. For the price of this hotel in a room facing the canal, this was completely unacceptable! By the time we left my husband had at least 30 welts up and down his arms and across his face. I chose to keep the covers over the top of my head while I slept.
