6.0If you're into clubbing then the clubs are right outside your doorstep. It's a really noisy area especially during the weekend. The staff were really accommodating and the room was really nice. But the AC wasn't the best. The room is really spacious as well which is a plus. It's really close to Taksim Square and Galata Tower. Though because of the proximity to the clubs I had a couple that was fighting right across my room at 11 pm. But that could just be an isolated incident.

The receptionist abused his position and acted unprofessionally
2.0The receptionist abused his position and acted unprofessionally and rooms are smaller than you thought and one more last thing. Knowing this, be cautious when making a reservation at this hotel. We arrived at the hotel on 01.08.2023 for a stay until 02.08.202. The receptionist asked for our identification, and I provided my passport. My girlfriend, on the other hand, forgot her ID and wanted to show a photo of her ID, but the receptionist refused and insisted on the original ID. As I personally worked as a receptionist, I am aware of this procedure. The receptionist can request the guest’s ID or passport, and if the person doesn’t have it physically, they can at least show a photo of the ID or passport on their phone to proceed with the check-in. The main purpose of requesting the ID or passport is to report to the police system that this person is staying at the hotel. Therefore, there is no need to show the original document; showing a photo of the document should be sufficient. Despite knowing this, the receptionist deliberately gave us a hard time and said, “If you don’t have your ID, go to the police.” I told him that showing a photo of the ID should be enough, and asked why he wouldn’t let us check in. He replied that he couldn’t be sure if the person staying is the same person in the photo and brought up a previous incident where someone used a different ID to stay at the hotel. In response, I gave him an Istanbul card with a passport-sized photo, name, surname, and ID number, which only the cardholder can carry, but the receptionist still insisted on the real ID. I told him that he doesn’t have the right to do so, and we can enter by showing our ID, any document with our ID number, or a photo of our ID, and I even confirmed this information by showing him evidence from Google. I also mentioned that if he thinks we are not the owners of that card, he can call the police, and he won’t be held responsible, but we would be. However, the receptionist rejected this and stubbornly insisted on the real ID. According to the law, we are only required to show our real ID to the state law enforcement or at official places such as embassies, airports, hospitals, police stations, etc. In hotels like this, we can present a photo of the ID or any document that reveals our identity is enough for check in. Despite mentioning all these facts, he refused. From this, we can understand that the receptionist, instead of wanting to handle the issue reasonably and with a problem-solving approach, deliberately and knowingly puts the guests in even more difficult situations, showing a lack of solution-oriented mindset.
