Sweaty, Dirty, Short Stay
2.0There is some sitting space in the downstairs bar where you can use a laptop or chill. There are chilled water dispenser machines on two floors. Microwave. Good size lockers for large bags and small suitcases. Not large suitcases.
− 1. Having to use my phone to unlock doors to the bar, the hostel corridor and the shared bedrooms was a hassle. I had to go through the headache of installing and setting up an app called Goki, and then you need to make sure your phone battery isn't dead. What if you didn't have a phone with you?! 2. Someone was lying in my bunk bed. I went to report it at the front desk but no-one was there. I was furious. I was tired. When finally someone arrived back at the front desk, and after they checked the room themselves, they came back downstairs and decided to let that person stay in my allocated bed. So instead of moving that person from the bed, they made me move to another bed in the same room. I couldn't even move to another room away from that person. I felt like I was being punished. It's an unacceptable outcome in my books. So sleep wherever you want, they won't do anything to move you if you do. 3. The sink on one of the floors was constantly blocked filled with dirty grassy water. 4. So one of two sinks is blocked, and from the other one of the sinks, the tap water had literally stopped running, no water came out of the taps, and the hot water tap was wobbling loose from the sink fittings. I had to fill an empty bottle with water from the water dispenser so that I could brush my teeth. Can you believe it!? There's only enough space at each sink for one person at a time as well. 5. The shared fridge outside the room was warm inside, yuck. Bottles and food were not cold enough if touched. The fridge was also crammed full! 6. No air conditioning in the room, and the one wall fan was not enough to cool the room, and the rooms were sweltering, utterly sweating temps. There was a heatwave in London the week I stayed, so if it's hot and humid outside it will be even worse in your bed (bring a strong portable fan). 7. There is no kitchen area to prepare food.
The WORSE experience of our lives! UNSAFE place. :(
1.0Horrible! Nothing went well after we checked in at the bar. Everything seemed ok until we went to the room, the shared areas, and the restrooms, and the nightmare began. It's been the worst experience my group and I have ever had.
− Do not book this place. We are still waiting for our refund. The place was UNSAFE, extremely dirty, and the front desk even said they would "just spray the restroom to get rid of the bad smell." We could tell the place was being used as a home for some of the people there (~99% men). All common areas were extremely dirty. We could not even use the restrooms, let alone use the shower area, because we felt unsafe and disgusted. We have contacted them through Booking, and nothing has been resolved. It's been over a month, and we wonder if the solution is to sue.
