Substandard accomodation - do not stay here!
1.0It was a lovely location right near the canal and close to transport hubs.
− This room should never have been let out in its state of disrepair. The floors were gritty underfoot with dirt. There were no skirting boards on any of the walls. There was an extra door still wrapped up in plastic, leaning up in the corner of the room. This was obviously waiting to be fitted to the ensuite as the current ensuite door did not close correctly and the handle felt like it would fall off, trapping you in the bathroom if you pulled too hard. The room only had the 4 beds, a small bar fridge and a fan that stopped working after the 2nd night. Other items on the list were missing. Only 1 bed had a head board and that was missing several of the felt squares. There was also a corner where the electrical wires were exposed and unfinished. The bathroom was large but there was a lot of black mould in the grout around the walls. There was a new faucet in the sink, however, it had been set up incorrectly with the hot and cold reversed. While the stairs leading to the room were Amsterdam steep and to be expected, the wall coverings were in crumbling disrepair and some of the handrails were lose and wobbly. The room was never serviced during our 3 night stay. Having travelled in multiple city centres in Europe at 1 and 2 star accomodations, this was definitely subpar and should never be operating in its current state. It plays off its location and historical photos.
