Amazing Location, but Major Convenience and Maintenance Issues
5.0The apartment is in a fantastic location, just steps from the Galata Tower, making it easy to explore many key sites in Istanbul. The woman who cleaned the unit was kind and helpful—she even offered to help with our laundry. The unit itself was reasonably clean and comfortable for a short stay.
− Communication with the host was a major issue. Despite arranging to drop off our luggage early after disembarking from our cruise, the host stopped responding—later explaining he was out of town with poor Wi-Fi. Thankfully, the couple who had rented the unit before us kindly let us in to leave our bags; otherwise, we would’ve been stuck hauling luggage around for five hours. The washing machine didn’t work properly—it ran endlessly and left our clothes soaking wet. I ended up using a local pickup/drop-off laundry service, which cost $75 CAD. While the location is convenient, it’s also extremely busy and tourist-heavy, which meant overpriced food and constant foot traffic—something I wish I had researched more beforehand. The bathroom showers were in poor condition: one barely functioned and the other leaked water onto the floor. Lastly, the kitchen was poorly stocked—if you plan to cook anything more than tea or toast, be prepared to improvise.
