Shockingly bad experience with host and check-in

Apart from the unkind host, hostile receptionist, and illegal misrepresentation as a 2br, the apartment was clean and stylish.

− As other reviewers have noted, this is a 1br with an extra bed behind a curtain. We also had significant issues with check-in and had to be let in by a local neighbor after the front desk receptionist sent us up twice to the wrong floor, got us trapped in the elevator at basement level, and then disappeared and was absent while we waited with four food delivery guys in the lobby trying to get upstairs. This was after the front desk receptionist told us “this unit shouldn’t be doing short term rentals” and left us waiting for fifteen minutes while she made several calls (although the host later clarified that the rental was legally permitted and allowed by the building management). When I brought these issues to the host’s attention, he got defensive and refused to cooperate, and accused me of speaking unkindly to the front desk attendant, which was false, and told me that the apartment was described in the listing as a “one bedroom with den,” which is false. I ultimately had to contact booking dot com about these and other issues with the listing.

Clean and organized apartment, but with misleading room descriptions and some appliance issues.

It is a very nice, tiny apartment—very clean and organized. You can find everything you need for a short stay.

− However, there are two issues. First, this should not be called a 2-bedroom apartment because it is actually one bedroom and one den. The den has been turned into a bedroom, but it only fits a single bed and has no door, just a curtain. Overall, it is a decent one-bedroom apartment. Second, some appliances were not working upon my arrival. They repaired the dishwasher during my stay, but I had to remove all the dishes myself, which ruined my manicure. Additionally, the water dispenser in the fridge is still not working.
