Spacious and light flat in Clapham♡

Great location, little sleep

The location was great for the price. And it’s perfect if you’re just using it as somewhere to sleep if you’re out and about all day

− The flat is right next to the front door to the building. I was consistently woken up at 6:30 each morning when others were going to work and slamming the front door.

The host was incredibly unprofessional, aggressive and unkind.

− The host requested to be contacted on arrival to access the lockbox which held the keys. While attempting to follow verbal instructions from the man who answered, I turned a key with little pressure and it broke off like butter in the lock. The hosts said they would call us back. 5 minutes later, another host called us back, and proceeded to blame me for the accidental key breakage, speak rudely and sarcastically to my friend and I, and accuse us of being drunk (which we were not). When we were able to recieve a calm moment of communication from them, we found that the broken key actually had no relevance to gaining entry, so we were able attempt one of the two other keys in the main lock, which was problematic to manoeuvre, but eventually allowed us access to the building. One final key got us into the accommodation. While the accommodation itself was pleasant, I felt uneasy during the stay with concerns the owner would either show up without warning or attempt to charge for unreasonable costs. The owner then sent a somewhat ominous text, attempting to label my friend and I as the problematic party, which I’ve screenshotted in the pictures below. I’ve read back through previous low reviews, and see a pattern of issues with both the owner and the key / lock. In all my travels, I have never come across a more difficult and nasty host.

The inside was good and had everything we needed

− The first impression isn't good as the grass in the garden could do with being cut, however this may not be down to the property owner.. The toilet seat was loose and the property would benefit from some net curtains so the main ones can be opened. Bit apart from this is was very good and there were restaurants and shops in walking distance

Very comfortable apartment close to shops, cafes and train stations. Light and spacious with cooking facilities and washing machine which is so handy.. very comfortable stay

Unsafe, dirty property which smelt of marijuana smoke and an unhelpful host.

− I would not recommend this property due to serious health, safety, and cleanliness concerns. Upon arrival, we found the room to be dirty, the bedding stained, and the lower lock on the door unable to lock. The room also smelt strongly of marijuana smoke, which triggered my mother’s asthma and caused severe coughing and breathing difficulties. Due to the impact on her health, we had to leave the property immediately and book a nearby hotel instead. We contacted the property owner in an attempt to resolve the matter fairly and request a refund, as we were unable to stay at the accommodation. However, after initially replying twice, the owner stopped responding altogether, leaving us no choice but to escalate the issue to Booking.com. Overall, this was a very disappointing and stressful experience, both because of the condition of the property and the lack of support from the landlord.
