2 star hotel saved by great staff
4.0Had to change rooms because the AC was making as much noise as a washer/dryer. Apparently this was a problem in a number of rooms, not just ours. Other people in our party had the same problem in other rooms as well as cracked bathrooms with water leaking on to the bathroom floor. The phone was also not working so we could not call the front desk and when rooms were switched the safe was not working. Rooms were small but passable, but the shower was a bit narrow (probably about 2' wide) and the water was lukewarm at best. The saving grace was the great hotel staff. 5 stars for them.
Wonderful
10.0The receptionist David was extremely helpful with making sure I got a handicap accessible room
Celebration with friends!
10.0Great time and accommodations.
Good location. Average hotel.
6.0A very average tourist hotel centrally located in mid town Manhattan near to both the Empire State Building and Madison Square Garden. Location is its biggest plus point, with so many attractions within a 10 to 20 minute walk and Penn Station a 2 minute walk away. As far as the hotel goes it is very cramped in size. The ‘King Size’ room was compact; very compact. It barely had enough space to walk around the bed and with suitcases in the room there was even less space. The shower was good and the bed was very comfortable. One irritating factor were the lifts which were used by both guests and housekeeping (there were no separate service lifts) meaning long waits at key times as housekeeping staff moved between floors. The included breakfast was fine and a welcome addition, if a little limited in choice. Staff in the restaurant were very pleasant and accommodating. Front of house staff at reception seemed constantly overwhelmed with the volume of guests coming and going in what again was a very small reception and lobby. The roof terrace bar is a good addition, where you can overlook the city skyline including The Empire State Building. Be aware if you pay by credit card that a 20 percent service charge is automatically added without any advance warning, which I find wrong as tipping is down to the individual customer based upon the service received not an automatic surcharge for someone simply doing their job and handing you a drink at a bar. In summary, it is a comfortable conveniently located hotel with basic amenities and very small accommodation space and even smaller communal areas. Would I stay here again? Probably not with so many other options available in the city in a similar price bracket.
Location was the only positive
4.0Very disappointed with this hotel. Didnt get a cookie on arrival, maid didnt clean the room properly and didn’t give us enough towels, reception staff were useless and didn’t give us any info about the hotel. There were undesirables hanging around outside the front of the hotel all the time. The rooftop bar was very very expensive even for New York and wasn’t very good either. The only positive is the location. Would I recommend it? NO!!!!!
Perfect
10.0Tuwiha was very nice and efficient during check-in. The rooms were clean & the location was perfect. Literally steps away from Penn station, multiple subway stations and buses.
