6.0The location is great with lots of shopping and dining option and close to bus and train station. The biggest issue is the hotel is dated and lack proper maintenance. The bathroom smells bad will some sewage smell. I wish the management can invest money in fixing it up and it will be a great place to stay

4.0This property needs an interior update. The rooms are worn and the bath is located in a dingy basement.

10.0Kyoto Ryokan Hirashin's best feature is its excellent location that allows walkable access to just about every magical aspects of Kyoto: Outrageously fun shopping options, unmatched food choices, outstanding ease to public transportation, awe-inspiring visitation to world-famous temples/shires/palaces/castles/landmarks, etc. Additionally, staff members were superbly attentive to guests' needs, quick to help, and made my 18-day stay an absolute joy.

10.0Typical Japanese experience. The room is spacious, we slept on the tatames/futons which the staff makes for you. And kudos to the staff that are beyond helpful and gentle. On top of that the hotel has its own Onsen (public baths). We loved it but we know that this not to everyone. If you want the ordinary, then, well, look for an ordinary hotel.
