Booked a quadruple room (one double bed, two singles) through Expedia. Arrived at the hotel and was given a standard room with a double bed without apology and pretending it was the correct room. Had to find alternative accommodation. Hotel also made refund through Expedia problematic.

A perfect place to stay

Booked Hotel Torre Guelfa as I liked the look of the romantic rooms. Our classic room 305 was fabulous with window shutters that gave us the perfect sleep. Coffee and tea in the room, shower gels in the bathroom, hair dryer, and a shower/bath tub. No iron in the room although I suspect you can get one from reception. By reception there are extra coffees, teas and milks should you run out. It is in the most perfect location in Florence, with all the major sites on your doorstep. Best of all the hotel has its own tower to admire the views of the city, Duomo, and sunsets. Around sunset times it gets busy even in February with bar service up till 8pm, it was open to go up and sit after 8. Breakfast was magnificent, on our first day we needed to be up early and there was so much food. A wide choice of pastries, fruit, juices, cakes, hot food and so much more. Choice of freshly made coffee and all the special milks should you need them. Florence should be walked its streets aren’t made for cars and getting a taxi is expensive and a waste of time. Picking a hotel in the historic centre is a must and this one was amazing. Splash out on one of their best rooms, Florence is beautiful, but once you have been here you will want to see other Italian cities.

Charming hotel with completely indifferent staff and service.

Stayed here when my wife and I were married in Firenze 25 years ago and came back to celebrate our 25th anniversary. We informed the hotel about this and asked if we could stay in the same room as back then. Also emailed the hotel several times with questions about the tower bar and they completely ignored all emails. When we arrived, they had taken no notice whatsoever of our situation and not only ignored the occasion completely, but gave us the darkest hotel room we have ever stayed in.

We loved the hotel for so many reasons. The location is excellent, the building is so interesting, all the staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast was delicious and plentiful and the roof terrace is fabulous. We highly recommend it as THE place to stay in Florence!

Loved the location, the rooftop views and the breakfast. 10/10 for those for sure. The breakfast attendant was so amazing- she remembered what we ordered and was a very bright light each morning. Our room, 309, was a bit dark and had no mirror. There was a mirror in the bathroom of course. Ironically there were so many mirrors everywhere but none in our room. We were able to even walk to the train station which was very easy and doable. Beautiful location. Would recommend.

This hotel was beautiful, hands down one of our favourites of the trip! The highlight if this hotel has to be the bell tower! With a terrace and bell tower serving drinks in the evening with panoramic views of Florence you can’t go wrong! The staff were polite and welcoming ensuring we had directions for our time in Florence. The hotel had period features which added to its character. The room we stayed in had high ceilings and four post bed and had a separate room with a sofa lounge area and a bathroom. The room was spotless and quiet in the evenings. Breakfast was lovely the pastry options were different everyday and were fresh. They also had a continental option. We will definitely be returning.
