10.0Idéalement situé par rapport aux transports en commun, mais aussi pour visiter à pieds quelques lieux incontournables. Très calme. Et le petit-déjeuner est à recommander !
Excellent 4-night stay at my favorite MGH Kawaramachi Jokyoji
9.0The MGH Kawaramachi Jokyoji was a hidden gem for me for my 4-day Kyoto trip. It had practically everything to serve me: superb location (3 minute walk to the Kawaramachi subway access, and several department stores and lots of local restaurants nearby--but don't forget to book early!), marvelous service, excellent breakfast (I didn't try their unagi meal for dinner), helpful staff most of whom could speak English (if not, we could use Google Translate), very clean and spacious room, and, most impressive, the clean and quiet onsen with extended hours from 3 pm up to 10 am in the morning (meaning you can go in to soak your body in the evening and in the morning before breakfast!).
− Despite everything fantastic, I was a little disappointed with the staff who was helpful in general but didn't know where the nearest Kawaramachi subway access was (diagonally across the Lawson (or 7/11 (?) convenience store--which was super busy at night!). I had to ask around at Takashimaya but it wasn't much troublesome. At night, the hotel front wasn't well lit, making me miss it the first day. And, lastly, since I asked for a room with a city view, they gave me one overlooking a cemetery of the Jokyoji Temple (we were asked to stay off the temple grounds)! I didn't request for another room; I just asked for some forgiveness from the spirits for being high above their grounds. And, I was glad that nothing bad happened to me at all. :-)))
