Enjoy the freedom of extra space around you as you stay!
10.0Of course, the main advantage was the size. After spending a few nights in Tokyo and Osaka with tiny rooms, the size of the rooms in this hotel was a great relief. The room was huge! The bathroom was of considerable size, had a bath and a large shower area, and still had a lot of other space. There was no breakfast included in our package. The hotel did have a free coffee machine with a very nice coffee (we loved the Kilimanjaro). Fresco just 3 minutes away and several places to eat, too. Walking distance to several beautiful shrines, art museums and Kyoto zoo. Direct buses to pretty much any place in Kyoto.
− Can't think of any. We loved the stay. But! Remember to ask for the room key so you can open by yourself and can leave and come back. Otherwise, there typical scenario is that the room is locked until you check out.

Worth considering for the right traveller
8.0There are caveats with this being a love hotel. The notes about the steel doors, hallways and age of the property should all be taken into consideration - this isn’t for everyone. However … This was incredible value, very functional and quite pleasant for me overall. No concerns about mould (have experienced issues at other locations - but room here was fine). Bed was reasonably comfortable, air conditioning worked well, and the shower room provided a nice way to unwind after a long day. For a 2-Star hotel, this was a pleasant stay for me. If you’re traveling through Kyoto and are considering this or a Dorm-Style Pod hotel, I’d consider this. If you can accept the nature of the hotel, the space alone might be worth any awkwardness. Oh and regarding the key - maybe they’ve changed their approach, but as other recent guests noted they do provide a key so you can come and go as you please with full autonomy. No concerns at all. Staff were friendly and used a translator app to bridge any language gaps.
− It is an older building and the room does have a lot of small signs of wear-and-tear. I think this is perhaps best as an adventure for two - as a solo traveller it took me two nights to really feel comfortable and ‘at-home’.
