Historic private and comfortable studio

Absolutely amazing accommodations for a history lover. The building is a palazzo apparently divided into private dwellings. The studio itself has windows overlooking a small side canal and the square on the other side, which helps with bringing fresh air throughout the day. You can hear gentle water sounds, boat traffic, birds, church bells, and even live opera singing with the windows and shutters open. The building sways almost imperceptibly from the gentle waves hitting its foundation. Medieval checkerboard stone tiles, and what appears to be the original hearth and ceiling with exposed wooden beams darkened with age. Down the stairs to the courtyard you'll find medieval weapons and armour on the walls, and a small boat launch that is currently gated off; the waves lap at the stone steps. You are just a couple of minutes walk from the Giglio Vaporetto dock, from shopping, bistros and fine dining, and a ten minute walk from Sant Marcos Square. The bed is comfortable and I slept like a rock there from the gentle swaying of the building and a reasonably dark and quiet room thanks to the heavy metal exterior shutters over the windows. The kitchenette is very basic, with a sink, small fridge, a cooking pot, a single plate and bowl, at least one mug, and eating utensils. There was a stovetop coffee brewer and a bit of coffee. No microwave, but there is an induction hot plate. Don't go there planning to cook meals, but having this facility made it easy for me to prepare cereal and coffee in the morning. The host also gave directions to the supermercado where prepared meals can be purchased and then kept cold in the apartment. This was a great way to save a bit of money on meals towards the end of my trip. The host is very communicative over text so you will have all the information and support you need while maintaining your privacy. It was a privilege to stay in such an historic place.

− The kitchenette could have a bit more such as table settings for two for couples who come through and a frying pam. Towels could use replacing, smelled of mildew with perfume to try and cover up the smell. Windows over the canal also meant a hoard of hungry mosquitoes coming inside, worse in the morning and evening. Window netting would be a benefit so the windows can be kept open for fresh air. While there is an air conditioner available, it must be kept above 25° C to keep it from overheating. It didn't do much for the humidity but it did circulate air a bit on a hot stuffy night. However, these were minor complaints compared to the delight of staying in a very special and unique building. I would absolutely stay there again.

La situació és fantàstica i hi ha molt silenci de dia i de nit.

− No està prou net, telaranyes, aranyes i pols, també per les escales i parets d’accés. La tapa del wc trencada, la finestra del bany té el pany també trencat, el nòrdic, les tovalloles i els llençols no fan olor de net … i els coixins necessiten un canvi. Llàstima, podria ser un apartament de 10 si es cuidessin els detalls.

The location of the apartment is very central.

− We regret to say that, despite its attractive location, we cannot recommend this accommodation. First, we were charged a €40 late check-in fee, which we found unreasonable. While we understand late arrivals are inconvenient, accommodating guests who travel globally is part of hospitality. Many accommodations offer lockboxes for accessibility. The main issue was the condition of the apartment: dirty floors, heavily worn bed linens, foul-smelling towels, and a disgusting kitchen sponge. These objective cleanliness flaws have been mentioned in other guest reviews. In hindsight, we should have heeded these warnings. Venice rentals may not always offer the highest standards, but this property’s value for money is simply unsatisfactory. We would not stay here again.
