1.0The view of the Galata tower was as depicted in the images on the advertisement
− Frequent and disruptive communication from host. Location of apartment, whilst near galata tower, was in a very sketchy part of the neighbourhood and it felt extremely unsafe. On arrival, there were several turkish men lingering at the door and renovation work being conducted in the foyer area. There was mess everywhere and rubbish and boxes stacked outside. We were told after booking and about a week prior to check in that the apartment was on the 5th Floor. The steps are steep and arduous. There is no elevator (as stated in the advertisement) The apartment itself has a view of the Galata tower, but was otherwise wholly disappointing. The door for one of the bedrooms did not close, the shower is over a bathtub which is difficult to get in and out of given the layout and height of the bath. The "rooftop terrace" is accessible via even steeper stairs and was a complete mess and unable to be utilised. I did not update the booking to reflect 3 people (automatically defaulted to 2 people). Within 20 mins of arrival I received a barrage of messages from the host stating she had been watching us on the security cameras and demanded a cash payment of €100 or to check out immediately, which was not an option as it was after carrying all our luggage to the 5th Floor and travelling to the other side of istanbul. I tried to communicate with the host via telephone but she refused saying she was unable to do so. It was a completely terrible experience, dangerous and scary. I have stayed in the same neighbourhood, one street over a couple of weeks ago and my experience was nothing like this. I would strongly urge any guests considering staying at this property or any of the other apartments managed by this host in this complex at Bereketzade Mahallesi Şair Ziya Paşa, Caddesi Dış Kapı no 11, to seriously reconsider staying anywhere else.

9.0Location was great, so close to the Galata Tower. The apartment is on a busy side street full of electrical suppliers and builders merchants, which could be quite noisy with deliveries but it was no issue once inside the property. A very short walk up the road and you are on the main Galata road which was ideal. Fantastic communication from the host, they sent useful info ahead of arrival and kept in touch in case we needed anything.

− The kitchen needs updating, especially the fridge. The stairs are something to consider before booking.
