Horrendous experience complete with rats - completely ruined our trip.

Nothing. Unless you like rats and bed bugs

− Rats in the entrance way when we came back after dinner one night. It is filthy. Not as advertised - in fact we were given an entirely different apartment, the agents have hundreds of apartments in venice and don’t care about you. They only want your money. We booked for 5 people but they only made up beds for 4. The mattresses were filthy and the sheets stained. The shower was broken and the mechanism fell off the wall whilst my daughter was showering. Furniture cheap and nasty - when we complained about everything we got no apology, offer of compensation or alternative accommodation - they only want your money. It’s that simple. And we paid €1,300 for 2 nights in an appallingly dirty and nasty apartment. We have filed a case against the agents and reported them to the Venice Tourist Board. Don’t book with these people.

The apartment is located 35 mins away from the main train station. One can take 5.2 line from Venice train station to reach the apartment. Nearest boat station is Ospedale, which is 700m away from the property. The door is locked by a secret 4-digit numbers shared by the host. It was a nice apartment, fully air conditioned, nice kitchen and two bedrooms with a total of 5 beds. Outside the apartment there are many nice cafes and restaurants to enjoy.

− The shower was broken. Although I reported immediately after reaching the property, it was changed next day evening so faced problem in bathing. The most weird thing is the host took money for us in the name of city tax although as per the booking.com I paid an amount that includes all taxes and fees. This additional amount was not mentioned anywhere in the site. I simply don't understand why this was not informed a priori and if I pay an amount inclusive all taxes, why should I pay additional city taxes. I think it was not right.
