Located in a lovely area, but needed a few improvements to make it a really lovely stay

7.0

The location is excellent - very quiet, away from the touristy streets but only a short walk from Campo Santa Margherita), which is great for restaurants and atmosphere. An even shorter walk to the supermarket, vaporetto stop and Giudecca Canal, which is beautiful. It's close enough to the city centre to nip back for lunch in heat of the day, if you don't want to eat at the (very pricey) restaurants all the time. The apartment has modern mosquito netting in all the windows, which meant we could have windows open (in search of an evening breeze!) and not worry about mosquitoes (which, we have found on our many visits to the city, is a year-round problem in Venice). That said, one of the nets in the main bedroom was a bit broken, so we didn't use that window. The shutters are good too, at keeping out the daytime sun and heat. Good layout to the apartment. Nice kitchen, but a rather random selection of mismatching items (e.g. 6 coffee cups and saucers, vs 5 tumblers and only 2 wine glasses; lots of plates but no bowls; lots of cutlery but only 3 teaspoons and no scissors). Presumably as things have been broken, they haven't been replaced.

The apartment was hot. There were portable air conditioning units in the two bedrooms, but both were extremely noisy, so it was very hard to sleep (and the mattresses were very "springy" - if one person moved, both people moved!). Also, the unit in the big bedroom was not efficient; it basically only cooled down the air immediately in front of the unit. The one in the small bedroom was much better – but neither of them helped lower the temperature in the apartment as a whole. So the hallway, living room and kitchen were really hot. (For context: by day, it was c30ºC and humid outside, with not much breeze – no surprise in July – and at night, the temperature only dropped slightly so the temp inside the apartment at night was around 26ºC.) An easy fix would be to put a big fan in the living room and (prob smaller one) in the kitchen, to help circulate the air. The other thing that could be improved quite easily, and would give the apartment more character, is the lighting - there is an overhead light in each room, but no bedside lamps or reading lamps. And the switches are by the door, so you have to get out of bed and cross the room to turn the light on or off. Not ideal if, for example, you have a small child in the second bedroom, or if you like to read on the sofa (note, there is no TV at the property).

Apartamento tranquilo en Dorsoduro.

8.0

La tranquila ubicación en el barrio de Dorsoduro, cerca de restaurantes, supermercados, paradas vaporetos y del Campo Santa Margherita.

Los colchones de las camas individuales son de muelles y habría que renovarlos.
