bed and breakfast?
Absolutely horrible
2.0This is perhaps the worst hotel experience ever. First of all, this is not even a hotel or hostel or a b&b. It is simply a flat where the owner himself (a rather old italian man) lives and rents out two spare rooms. No website bears an indication of this! In real life the flat looks nothing like the pictures. The rooms dont lock, or better to say the man does not give you the key to lock your room. The bathroom is shared. The man himself hardly speaks any other languages other than Italian and is hugely unwelcoming and not friendly at all. It took us ages to find the place as there are no indications of it. Once we found it took us another while to wait for someone to open the door. It was rather difficult to communicate with the man even though I am more or less fluent in Italian. He simply says his thing and refuses to listen to you and answer your questions. After I told him several times that I had to go to a cash machine to withdraw some money to pay for the stay he got really angry and eventually told me and my girlfriend that he does not want to host us anymore and that we can get out. This was ultimately what we did, because neither of us were keen on staying there after such treatment.
Strange place, but has also benefits...
6.0We had no problems staying there three nights, but you surely have to get used to some strangeness and I would not have liked to stay there by myself for sure! The location of the B&B is great, especially if you want to visit the Biennale and want to avoid the touristy part of town. Unusual is, that an old man is taking care of the apartment, who also lives there. You don´t notice him much, but it feels like you are living in someone´s apartment. The benefit of it is that unlike renting a room in a hotel, you also as a guest have access to the kitchen, where you can cook. You even have space in the fridge to store things. There are notes everywhere that inform you about what you are allowed and not allowed to do in this place and what Michele (the host) is taking care of, (for example all your dishes!) it´s quite strange, but also hilarious at times... Our bathroom, which was right next to our bedroom was only used by us and was cleaned every day, so was the bedroom. No complaints about that, the place was clean. Breakfast was served in the morning. It is indeed quite diappointing. We basically ended up making our own food in the kitchen. I think it should not state in the advertisement that "breakfast" is served...The other unfortunate thing other guests have already pointed out here is that you can´t lock your bedroom. I think this needs to change! All in all if you can deal with some strangeness, its an ok place and back then was the cheapest we could find.
You've been warned!!!
2.0I wrote a honest review of this hotel, which Expedia rejected even though I followed the community rules. Let me try again. I am a travel professional. This was a last minute addition to my eurotrip, I needed to fly to Venice for 2 nights. To be fair, I knowingly booked a cheap B&B because everything else was astronomically expensive. Here is the summary of my stay at this B&B: - B&B is located on the 4th floor, very common for Europe, without an elevator (also common). At the arrival, the host would not help us with luggage. - He was annoyed because we arrived late (my wallet was stolen, but that was not his concern) even though I called him ahead of time -You are staying in someone's living room, room does not lock. As a female traveler, safety is a big concern. I did not feel safe. - Mosquito bites all over my body because the windows don't have netting, the host gave us anti-mosquito wall outlet that did not work -He does not speak English. At all - Breakfast consisted of coffee and hot dog bun with jam - He yelled at me because I requested a copy of the receipt upon checkout - Did not feel safe because the hallway is pitch dark Poor advertising as the place looked nothing like the photos Thank god it was only 2 nights. BTW, tried to move to another hotel or B&B the same night, but Expedia and management really dropped the ball. After 1.5 hours on the phone (international), nothing got resolved. Major fail.
