10.0Mitsuki Kyoto is an oasis of tranquility, thoughtfully and beautifully designed. If you have read Tanazaki's In Praise of Shadows, then you will especially appreciate the attention to detail that Yoko has put into the design of Mitsuki Kyoto. The rooms were gorgeous, as were the gardens - so much so that I wanted to spend more time in them. The location was convenient for getting around (both on public transportation and via taxis). I had one breakfast there, served in the dining room (my choice) and it was amazing - delicious, beautiful, and with attentive service. When I arrived Yoko served me tea, and then sat down with me, provided a city map, and helped me make a plan to visit the sites I was interested in, while also suggesting others based on my interests. Yoko was a kind, attentive, communicative host throughout my visit. She gave me excellent recommendations for dinner, and checked in daily via text. She also provided coffee since I planned to leave early in the morning for temple visits. The bathroom also gives you the option to have a private onsen, with a washing area (stool, bowl, shower head), and soaking tub, which I greatly appreciated. These were the best accommodations of my 2.5 week trip to Japan (out of 8) and I cannot recommend Mitsuki Kyoto highly enough. I cannot wait to return and stay there again.

A Truly Authentic Ryokan Experience with Exceptional Hospitality
10.0We chose this property to experience a traditional ryokan stay in Kyoto, and it was truly wonderful. From the moment we arrived, Yoko-san and her team made us feel incredibly welcome with traditional sweets, authentic green tea, and exceptional hospitality. Yoko-san even took the time to help us plan our day in Kyoto, which was such a thoughtful gesture. Wearing traditional Japanese attire and enjoying a delicious Japanese breakfast served by Mayo-san and Tomomi-san made the experience even more special. What touched us most was the kindness of the staff. After we checked out, Mayo-san ran nearly 500–600 meters to return the water bottle we had forgotten, and both Mayo-san and Tomomi-san waved goodbye until we were out of sight. Thank you, Yoko-san, Mayo-san, Tomomi-san, and Team Mitsuki for an unforgettable stay.
