The location was very convenient. It was minutes to many major sites, including Piazza San Marco, the Rialto bridge, and several water bus stops. Check-in was pretty easy, though we prefer a self check-in for convenience. The representatives for the hosts were very friendly and quite responsive. We enjoyed the amount of natural light in an apartment that only required a climb of 3 flights of stairs and the balcony was very nice. The bathroom was clean and the hot water ample, which we appreciated.

− The apartment was dirty. The floor needed scrubbing and the walls, particularly in the bedroom were filthy. There were what I assumed was squashed dead bugs all over the walls and ceiling. That was pretty gross, though not surprising. Be forewarned, if you leave the windows open at night you will be attacked mercilessly by an army of mosquitoes. Use the AC. It will cut down on the street noise you hear in the morning and evening anyway. The bathroom smelled bad. It smelled like a rodent perhaps had died somewhere. We kept the window open constantly despite evening lows in the 40s (F) and the door to the rest of the apartment closed. The bed was uncomfortable. The mattress was hard and the pillows somehow flat, yet lumpy. The other furniture isn't much better. The place is small, so room is limited and there is no sofa. There are two small yellow chairs that are comfortable enough, but a huge amount of space is taken up by a sideboard where a sofa could easily fit and make this place more comfortable. The dining table chairs were intolerably uncomfortable. It was nice that an espresso pod machine was provided, but no espresso pods were included. A small detail, but it makes a difference. The apartment could be a great stay, but it needs major improvements. We wouldn't return unless we were assured all these items were addressed.

This property is wonderful in many ways. Read the whole review if you are going there. The apartment has 2 rooms w A/C. The shutters block out the noise that always happens, everywhere, in Venice during the day. It is only about 100 feet/30 meters from the Hotel Scandinavia. Knowing this will help you figure out how to get there. It is about 12 minutes from the Realto bridge (Orange Line ferry) from the airport. Your phones directions will often get confused, due to the tall brick buildings. It is best to spend 25 to 35 Euros to have “Constantine” or another porter (who are along that dock) to take you the 1st time-- as there are 3 bridges and many alleys to go down to get to the property. You will either need Mobile service or WhatsApp, with a data plan (you can download an eSim card, such as Mama Mia, ahead of time), as the local "free" Venice wifi does Not work. The owner's agent arranges the night before arrival (only via WhatsApp or text--not email) a time to meet you near the apartment. We were delayed (bad airline) and then we had trouble, even with the nice agent's help, connecting with him to get the key. There are only 1 or 2 apartments in the building that are rented, so you have to see an agent to get the key. The bed is very firm. There are dishes and pans with a stove top. There is no microwave, TV or oven. Weak shared wifi.There is only 1 key.No lift. Wonderful balcony. A 5 Star VeniceApt. The neighborhood is wonderful. We’d love to go again.
