Beware of predatory business practiced
2.0The apartment was modern, comfortable, and in a good location.
− The management team overbooked the room we were staying at. Rather than admitting their mistake and fixing their mistake, they pressured us into spending an extra 350 Euros for another room. We were traveling with a toddler, and we were exhausted, so they took advantage of that. At first, we thought it was strange that they brought a whole management team of 3 people just to check us in when all our other accommodations only had 1. They tried to make it seem like they were doing us a favor by insisting that our toddler needed a whole bed for herself. When we repeatedly said our toddler co-sleeps with us, they suddenly changed their reasoning to the bathroom not being enough, and how they didn’t want us to leave a bad review for having to wait for bathroom usage. We told them that we didn’t mind, and it still wasn’t enough for them to give us the room. They had an endless list of reasons we needed to “upgrade,” and we were so confused. It wasn’t evident that they had overbooked the room until the three of them started to talk in Portuguese thinking that we wouldn’t understand (we’re Americans). At that point, our toddler was already patiently waiting for a whole 30 minutes, and we needed to get food, so we just caved and paid for the upgrade. It was a miserable way to start our Portugal segment, but I guess… at least the apartment itself was nice…
