I wouldn’t stay here again

− I am extremely disappointed with our stay at this hotel, particularly as it was booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, we were informed that the double room we had booked and received confirmation for was unavailable due to an electrical fault affecting the Standard rooms. We were told there was nothing that could be done and were instead given a room with two single beds. As our booking confirmation clearly stated a double room, this was a hugely disappointing start to what was meant to be a special trip. Unfortunately, the replacement room was also far from acceptable. The shower was faulty due to an issue with the temperature controls, and the telephone did not work. Because of the shower issue, we were unable to properly get ready for our anniversary celebration the following day and were only provided with another room to shower in at around 1:30 pm, causing us to arrive late to an event that we were hosting ourselves. While the hotel later moved us to a different room, this did not undo the disruption to our first night or the stress we experienced. We spent most of the second day at our event and returned late that evening, so the later room made very little practical difference to our stay. To the manager’s credit, he was polite and apologetic throughout, and the hotel ultimately offered a 50% refund for the first night’s accommodation. However, I do not believe this adequately reflects the fact that we were not provided with the room type we had booked and paid for, and that the room we were given had multiple maintenance issues. What should have been a memorable anniversary was instead overshadowed by avoidable problems and unnecessary stress. Sadly, based on our experience, I would not choose to stay here again.
