We had a wonderful time in Ohara!
9.0Nicely decorated and well managed ryokan with a beautiful onzen.
Extremely satisfied with our experience
10.0We had some doubts in the beginning of it's worth to travel that far from Kyoto center and check a ryokan close to center, later we experienced that it was one of the best decisions we made. The hotel is located in Ohara region which has a very beautiful green landscape with river path and mountains. We had a morning walk and it was very pleasant and peaceful. The hotel is not fancy but provides all types of necessary facilities in a lean way. It's very clean an well organized, hot spring baths are small but sufficient, public areas are good fit for purpose. The environment is directly warm and welcoming. Our room was quite and floor beds were surprisingly very comfortable, compared with our previous APA hotel stay. Kids loved the traditional style room and the stay a lot. We had quite fun by dressing with yukata's provided by host. We had dinner + breakfast and we were amazed with the quality and taste of dishes and how it's served. Everything was super fresh and delicious, and quite plenty. It's great value, in fact we think that it is undervalued. We experience that Japanese people are in general kind and friendly but here the host is at the extreme level. We reserved dinner, but due to traffic we arrived 1 hour late. They just kept the restaurant open for us only and the host was still apologizing that he could not keep the fried food warm anymore. In the land I came, most of the people would even have difficulty to understand this behavior. We are in debt. We highly recommend this stay. Bonus: The location of the hotel is 15 min walking distance to Sanzen-in Temple, which is a very well organized temple with super beautiful gardens and riverside.
− A pity that I cannot give score over 10.

10.0Stayed here for the second time in 2 years, love it!
Wonderful Ryokan, very good breakfast and dinner and very nice hosts.
10.0The accommodation- the Ryokan- very beautifully arranged ( it is actually much better than in the photos), the breakfast and the dinner, carefully prepared by the hosts. The onsen and the powder room were delicately arranged.
− It is a pity that there are no private toilets and bathrooms but, even so, they were incredibly clean and carefully arranged
