10.0This is a beautiful Machiya in Gion. We loved the location- it is right next to a quiet Zen Buddhist temple complex that you can walk through at all hours and enjoy the stunning architecture. We saw 4 geishas during our stay walking quickly through the streets in the evening. The home is close enough to all of the restaurants and shops of Gion but on a quaint and quiet side street. My teens could walk everywhere alone from this location. The house is traditional in architecture and felt very authentic- we really felt like we were being submersed in a cultural experience staying there. Absolutely recommend!!

Perfect combination of old and new for a comfortable stay.
10.0The location is perfect, allowing easy access to old Kyoto and quick access to the subway and train lines. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The place provides a very Japanese experience with an old yet fully updated house in the historic district.

10.0Outstanding location. Beautiful property. Reiko the owner of the Machiya is excellent at making sure we were comfortable. It was like a home from home feeling. Highly recommend this location and best place to stay in Kyoto.
